
| Natalia L. Rudychev was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. Thanks to her mother's efforts, Natalia was able to take full advantage of St. Petersburg's rich cultural heritage. Since early age Natalia took ballet and piano lessons and frequented the Mariinsky Theatre and the Philharmonic Society. During her teenage years Natalia attended classes on the history of art at the Hermitage and the Russian Museum. Natalia's knowledge of Russian and European cultural history was so good that she guided tours in St. Petersburg, Pskov, Novgorod, and other cities. |
In her twenties Natalia simulteniously graduated from two universities ( RSPU and INSTITUTIO ROSSICA CHRISTIANA ) with M.A. degrees in philology and comparative literature. Both Natalia's theses were on James Joyce's Ulysses. Natalia's academic achievements allowed her to win a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. In 2001 Natalia entered a graduate program at Duquesne University, USA. In 2005 she received a masters degree in philosophy. Currently Natalia carries on toward Ph.D in philosophy.
Natalia was raised Russian Orthodox and always expressed great interest in spiritual development and growth.
Natalia beleives in helping others. She worked as an interpreter for the International Charity supporting homeless children of St. Petersburg.
Natalia's love for the animals found its outlet in horse riding sessions and help at the animal shelter. Right now she is a proud parent of a Senegal parrot and an Irish setter.
Natalia's art, poetry and prose are published in Russia, UK, USA, Australia, and Japan. Natalia's creativity was most influenced by Anna Akhmatova, Teffy, James Joyce, Ezra Pound, T. S. Eliot, Issa, Basho, Hagiwara Sakutaro, Akira Kurosawa, Andrei Tarkovsky, Mikhail Vrubel, Picasso, Dora Carrington, Margherita Manzelli, P. Tchaikovsky, Astor Piazolla, and Philip Glass.
Natalia took every oppotunity to experience great works of art during her trips to UK, Austria, France, Germany, Turkey, Continental US, and Hawaii. These miraculous encounters are often reflected in Natalia's creations.
Natalia's most recent publications include Ribbons, Quill & Parchment, Presence, Asahi, paper wasp, red lights, American Tanka, SP Quill, bottle rockets, APORETIKA, Haiku Harvest, American Open Mike (vol. 1 & vol. 2), LYNX, Contemporary Haibun Online, Wisteria, Eucalypt, PEN, Mainichi, Frogpond, Modern Haiku, and Lilliput Review.
Natalia' art is showcased in Simply Haiku, Haigaonline, LEXICON, the Green Leaf Contemporary Haiga Artists Directory, Modern English Tanka, Nisqually Delta Review, World Kigo Database, and WHA Haiga Contests.
Natalia's art was publically displayed at the 5-th International Conference on Arts and Humanities in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Natalia is a member of the Haiku and Tanka Societies of America, the Society for Women in Philosophy, and American Philosophical Association.
